In the Ubuntu Software Center
ccsm
Search for it. "Advanced Desktop Effects Settings (ccsm)" matches, so install it.
Click the menu button at the top left and enter ccsm in the search bar.
"Compiz Config Settings Manager" matches, so launch it.
Click "Desktop" in the left navigation.
Click "Ubuntu Unity Plugin."
In the "Hide Launcher" dropdown, select "Never."
