I bought the Philips 4K Display BDM4350UC/11 for work and tried using it by connecting it to a MacBook Pro Retina 2014, but the response speed was so slow that I almost lost my mind.
There are two specification issues to be aware of:
Although I mentioned an older MacBook Pro, probably the only Mac that can output 4K at a proper refresh rate of 60Hz is the Mac Pro. Even a 2014 MacBook Pro with decent video capabilities can only output 4K at a refresh rate of 30Hz.
While a Windows PC with a proper video card can handle 4K at 60Hz without any issues, the MacBook Pro cannot, so be cautious.
Be aware that the default setting of this display has a slow response speed.
If you adjust the settings using the switch on the back and set the response speed to "Fastest" from the display settings, it becomes much more comfortable to use (reducing the response time from approximately 10ms to 4ms). Slow response speed can be very stressful, so it's best to make this adjustment right away. I suffered for a week without knowing this, so I hope to reduce similar issues for others. However, please note that overdrive might cause visible ghosting. For work purposes, "Fastest" seems to be the best option. If you're using it at home for watching videos, the next slower setting might be better.
